Repurposing Plastic It’s always great news when a major hotel brand moves towards sustainability. Meliá Hanoi and Meliá Ba Vi Mountain Retreat are the first hotels in Vietnam to launch PlasticShreds, an upcycling initiative that aims to convert single-use plastic into chips that can be combined with bitumen or asphalt to make roads, badminton courts and other surfaces. Meliá properties have been actively working to reduce single-use plastic since 2018 and have already banned single-use plastic straws, replacing them with more natural alternatives. melia.com
