I am flourishing and exploring through rugby, drama, languages, housebuilding, workshops, leadership opportunities, friendships with the elderly and so much more. Building relationships with like minded students and also seeking to understand multiple perspectives creates peace. This growth mindset, grit and a sense of purpose come from my UWC education. It’s hard for me to pinpoint a specific highlight of my time at the school – there are too many! UWCSEA has taught me to become an active, aware and engaged global citizen. I’m still exploring my options for my future, and I’m excited about the opportunities!

We moved to Singapore in 2012 after previously living in London. Lily started attending UWCSEA East in K1 in 2015 (now in Grade 5) and Sarah started in K1 in 2018 (now in Grade 2). We learned about the school mainly through word of mouth in the expat community, as well as online (plus Expat Living, of course!). The school’s reputation for service, the IB curriculum and a learning style that teaches children how to think rather than what to think are all reasons why we enrolled Lily and Sarah. We’ve noticed the girls’ genuine curiosity and awareness about the world around them. The successes of UWCSEA alumni in diverse endeavours also speaks volumes about the school. UWCSEA is a very special school that instils a strong sense of community and offers a diverse range of after-school activities, in addition to the IB curriculum. The facilities are second to none, from the sports and music facilities to the classrooms and playgrounds. The teachers come from a diverse range of countries and are committed to the school’s mission. There’s a strong focus on personal development, too; our daughters have learnt skills like mindfulness and an appreciation of different cultures. Special mention should go to the school’s service activities, including the trips offered (pre pandemic) as well as the amazing swim programme that both girls enjoyed. The school ticks just about every box – amazing facilities, engaged and enthusiastic teachers, a great school community and well-rounded curriculum that doesn’t just focus on academics but also on activities, community service and developing skills like critical thinking and collaboration. We’ve seen our girls evolve and develop as a result of their UWCSEA experience, and would certainly encourage other parents to consider the school. When we arrived in Singapore in 2009, Mari was one year old. She went to preschool but we started looking for a school where she could learn in a stable environment for the long term. Several friends who are parents of UWC students highly recommended the school as one of the prestigious international schools in Singapore. After visiting the campus and meeting with people, we decided to enrol Mari in K1. Mari enjoyed school and we were convinced that UWCSEA was the best possible school for our kids. Nicola also entered UWCSEA in K1. Mari is now in Grade 7 and Nicola is in Grade 1. Our kids feel very comfortable in the multinational school community and among the diversified student body. The spacious campus in Dover as well as K1 to G12 coverage gives kids plenty of opportunities to interact with other students of different ages through various school events. Most of the Infant School teachers also know Nicola is Mari’s younger brother and our kids feel very much at home. The curriculum is well designed and organised. In addition to a second language selection being incorporated in the IB programme, the Home Language Program is very helpful for kids to keep up with their mother tongue. The teachers make every effort to keep parents updated with their kids’ progress at school and support their growth together with the parents. There’s an amazingly wide selection of extracurricular activities available during school terms and holidays so the kids will never be bored. We recommend UWCSEA because the school builds a strong foundation for kids to become leaders in the global community in the future.
