I’ve attended MCM for seven years and I’m currently in my final year. During my time at the school, there have been numerous things that I have grown to love on the academic and boarding side, but I especially love the sports facilities, which are fantastic. To list a few, there’s the athletics track, gym, rugby fields and swimming pool. Another is the great support provided from teachers with schoolwork as well as having a high priority for our wellbeing, particularly the pastoral care for boarders who live away from home, like myself. However, the most important thing about being in an international boarding school like MCM is the sense of community and belonging one gains. I truly believe that the people and friends I’ve made at MCM have been the backbone of the memories of my school years. One of the highest points in my time here has been the Straits Touch Rugby Tournament at the beginning of 2020. It was one of the last social sporting events before COVID-19 and our U18 team fought hard to win the Straits trophy. I especially enjoyed playing and working with older girls who have taught me to play with maturity and true sportsmanship. As a sporty individual, my interest in

sports science is growing increasingly. Therefore, I’ve decided to take a three-year course with a placement year for Sports Science at a university in the UK to hopefully work in the sports industry in the future.

Virtual & In-person Tours Sir Manasseh Meyer International School (SMMIS) has spaces available for its August 2022 enrolment. The school offers a rigorous international education – Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool, IPC blended with English National Curriculum Literacy and Singapore Maths in Primary School, IMYC and iGCSEs in Secondary School – for ages two to 16, ESL provision available. It’s a smaller school on a state-of-the-art campus with excellent facilities and a nurturing environment for children to flourish and reach their full potential. Boarding and Day School in Johor Marlborough College Malaysia has an Admissions Morning on 18 June from 8.30am to noon. Visitors get to tour the 90-acre site with its world-class facilities that include an organic farm, golf driving range and lake for water sports. Master Alan Stevens will provide an introductory presentation to the British boarding and day school, which caters for pupils aged three to 18 years. The sister school of Marlborough College UK is listed in the top two percent of IB schools in the world. We have lived in the region for eight years and run our own business supplying sportswear to teams and schools. We learned of Marlborough College Malaysia and its reputation through friends. Rose joined in Year One and is now in Year Three. Joe joined in Year One this year and we’re hoping to enrol Penny into Year One this August. The school is set in a spacious, impressive campus incorporating exceptional facilities. The children enjoy swimming, tennis, touch rugby, ballet, athletics, football and gymnastics, amongst other options. Aside from the sporting activities, the children experience a wide range of lessons and activities including languages such as Spanish and Mandarin, music, art and exciting expeditions to the on-site mangrove and lake. The teachers are approachable

and professional, and there is a very sociable community in and around the school. The ethos of the school echoes many of the traditions of Marlborough College (UK), which is welcome to us, being British. The pupils take part in many charitable activities through the Outreach Team, which comprises teachers and parents. We would recommend the school as the standard of teaching and the space and facilities are hard to beat.
